And so Xue Yaozu was dragged over to help move the piano.

Xue Yaozu didn’t say anything, accepted the juice and put it in his backpack.
The chatterbox continued rambling on to Xue Yaozu.
As Xue Yaozu slung on his backpack and headed out, he was still rambling.
Up to the school entrance, he was still jabbering on. When they got there, Xue Yaozu remembered that he hadn’t taken his homework with him. It was probably because of the chatterbox’s prattling that he’d forgotten. He had no choice but to go back to the classroom to get his homework, but when he got to the classroom doorway, he stopped. He heard the people inside gossiping about Ren Yigu.
The kid who was blathering on the loudest was Ren Yigu’s paired partner. He said, “My mom said she knows about Ren Yigu’s mom!”
“I’ve always felt that Ren Yigu doesn’t fucking look like a guy.”
“No wonder my fucking woman’s been seduced by him.”
“Before I told you all that I saw him being close to some high-school guy, but you guys didn’t believe me! Fuck, some girls even fucking said I was seeing gayness everywhere. Who the heck is the one who is looking at people gay.”

Xue Yaozu stared at the person who had started the conversation. He stared for a moment, then abruptly slammed the guy by the collar into the flower bed.
For the first time, Xue Yaozu found out that he could fight. And what’s more, he was damn good at it.
Although when he was done fighting, he found that he was sore and exhausted all over. His hands were trembling and his brain still felt all woozy.
The chatterbox had been waiting by the school gates for a long time without anyone coming out, so he went back to find Xue Yaozu. When he arrived, he was greeted with the sight of a great mess. He was shocked silly, then after a moment of getting his thoughts together he yelped, “You guys are fighting——ah——”
Xue Yaozu had already moved beside him and covered his mouth with his hand. He said, voice low, “Shut up.”

Just now, Xue Yaozu’s glasses had fallen during the fight and his sweaty bangs had gotten swept to the side to reveal his smooth forehead and his eyes.

The room across from Ren Yigu’s was his big brother’s. His big brother opened his door, took a look, then shut the door again.
Ren Yigu was still there, watching. He watched for a long, long time.
This was the first time Xue Yaozu saw an unsmiling Ren Yigu.
No, that’s wrong. When Ren Yigu played video games he didn’t smile either.
It was the first time Xue Yaozu saw Ren Yigu upset.
When Ren Yigu was upset it would make you feel upset watching him.
It was almost as if Ren Yigu had done something wrong himself. He was very hurt and also very upset. Slowly, he braced himself on the wall and slid down so that he was sitting on the floor. He hugged his knees to his chest, buried his head in his arms and sat like that for a long, long time.

It looked like he was having a nightmare. He didn’t know what sleep talk he was saying either, as he couldn’t hear him clearly.
Then, after a while, Ren Yigu started crying. And he would occasionally tremble.
After thinking about it for a while, Xue Yaozu cautiously patted him and tried to wake him up. But suddenly, he remembered that older people said that you shouldn’t wake someone who was sleepwalking, otherwise something bad would happen. Then, could you wake someone who was talking in their sleep?

Readings this lodged a thought in my mind. That Ren had mental issues as a child even before moving to his father’s house, everything thing that happened after caused it to get worse especially the kidnapping . Having family members around you and friends who ignore and don’t care about the obvious signs that something is wrong with you, made it even worse !! It is sad because that kind of problem. It seems was mostly caused by family neglect, rejection and abuse. I cried while reading the entire story. I hardly remember smiling because it hurt so much. Still it was a good read😇
This gave us more insight on Yigu’s issue. He had been thirsty of love and warmth from the beginning. I think it made it realistic that the harder it is he felt, the harder he try to mask it up with cheerfulness. I felt sad thinking how cold the family is. What more with a rebellious high schooler as a brother. As Yaozu said, he is a pretty glass cup. Hopefully the two can slowly heal and complete each other.
