Chapter 57

As I walked out from the cabin doors, I saw Sakarol walking towards me with Rhine, who was wearing a complex expression that startled me, right behind her. He looked at me intently, the outline of his jaw protruding slightly from his cheeks, as if he was angered to the limit of his patience. With how things appeared to be, if Sakarol wasn’t here, he would have turned into a lion and eaten me whole.

Though obviously they had been monitoring everything just now, I still felt inevitably embarrassed, despite psychologically preparing myself from the start. I lowered my head to avoid their intense gazes as I dug out the syringe from my pocket, and with furrowed eyebrows, I gradually handed it over to the approaching Sakarol.  aFcC9M

Her eyes swept over my face with a look that could make one feel squirmish. With a small scornful laugh, she took the syringe and inspected the mauve-coloured liquid in it—my blood. The action made me a little nervous but I steadily kept a calm front, my expression not wavering one bit. You must know that international spies are proficient at disguise and have a skill of cracking people’s facade, I mustn’t let them catch anything off with my expression by any means, no sweating or any other small changes.

So as to not reveal any flaws, I pretended to be impatient and crossed my arms, rolled my eyes and coldly spatted out, “Hey, you’ve already got the blood, so I should be able to meet my friends now! “And don’t think you guys can just order me around without confirming that their lives are safe and that they won’t be starved to death!”

Sakarol frowned, ignoring me. She just took out a test tube and carefully transferred the blood from the syringe before shaking it a few times. The corner of her lips lifted only after the colour and consistency wasn’t detected as abnormal, giving a glance toward Rhine and said, “Oh, of course my little scholar. Rhine will bring you up there.”

“Yes, Colonel. I will take him there right now.” Rhine’s tight face suddenly became lax like he had barely escaped punishment before he grabbed onto my arm and tried to drag me out, but then was stopped by Sakarol, “Don’t forget, get his hands cuffed up.” With that said, she took out a bright object from her pocket and tossed it to Rhine standing behind me.

When I felt the ice-cold metal looping around my wrist, I struggled to retract my hands subconsciously, staring at Sakarol’s seemingly ultra soft neck.

I knew that with the hidden power inside my body, it wouldn’t be a problem to break away from Rhine and use the handcuffs as a weapon to threaten Sakarol right now, however I quickly dismissed this idea the second it passed through my mind.

I dug into my palm as I allowed myself to be handcuffed, and was dragged up the flight of stairs by Rhine to the floor above. While moving, I observed the imprisoned merfolk on both sides of me, and I was amazed to find out that quite a lot of them were looking back at me. The emotion in their eyes was very different from that time back on Merfolk Island, it didn’t make me feel terrified at all, instead it even made hope swell in my heart because the way they looked at me was the same as how they looked at their own kind.  zoM3Sn

Dare I say that I felt a sense of reverence—the way they hung their head with their eyebrows and eyes facing downward was just like how humans show formal courtesy.

This was undoubtedly because of Agares’s ‘marking ceremony’—they acknowledged my status of being his spouse. Like… the role of a Queen?

Ah, to hell with it!

As a man, I was being regarded as the queen to the mystical race of merfolk. What kind of joke is God playing with me?!  9PQG6E

I scrunched up my eyebrows, clicked my tongue with a ‘tsk’, and shifted my head away, but then I was unexpectedly pushed by Rhine. My feet ended up stumbling over the cabin door’s threshold, almost making me fall head first onto the outer deck. Rhine grabbed me from behind, lifted my body upward, and before I knew it, my back was slammed onto the wall with his large hand forcefully pressing my head against it. The force was so hard that I had to shift my head sideways, and even my lips were pressed to the point of deforming. I glared at him, “Fuck, the heck are you doing?!”

Rhine eyed me closely. A blue vein pulsed faintly on his forehead, his chin was covered in stubble, his breath smelling heavily of alcohol hit me in the face, like a homeless person suffering from a hangover. Realising that he drank a lot of liquor made me feel really uneasy. I was sure that he was staring at my lips, and maybe it was because of the incident where I had licked Agares’s big thing that he was on the verge of flaring up. Blood rushed to my cheeks as shame and annoyance bubbled up in me, so I hastily switched the subject. “Rhine, I don’t care what problems you have, but you have to bring me to Lafarre and the others first!”

Rhine had been silent the whole time, but before I could even finish the end of my sentence, he interrupted me with a sudden chuckle, then said in a low voice, “Desharow, I’m thinking about how your tongue would feel. But maybe i’ll know tonight. Sakarol placed you under my care, do you know what this means?” He paused for a bit, and approached me somewhat fiercely and continued, “I’ll…do the things that damn merman had done to you, just doing it once with me, I’ll make you unable to even stand on the next day…”

“Fuck off! You son of a bitch, don’t think you ever can!” I crudely shouted, feeling my scalp turn numb. I bent my knee thinking of hitting him in the groin to give him a taste of my mind, but couldn’t as his big hands slipped down to my nape, and then roughly pushed me to walk forward in big strides. “But rest assured, I will fulfil your little wish of meeting your friends. After meeting them, you’ll realise that gaining my favour and pleasing me would be the thing you need most.”  6tvrXE

“Gaining your favour?” I laughed scornfully, “A fucker like you is just that skank’s lapdog!”

After I spat out those words, we rounded a corner to where Rhine stopped in front of another cabin. Then, he harshly grabbed the back of my shirt collar and forcefully turned my head from the front to my shoulder with his rough hands. His lips were practically plastered onto my ear, the disgusting vapour that came when he exhaled, felt like boiling water pouring through the seams of my clothes. “Ah, indeed Desharow, I am a dog, but I have already firmly bit onto you, what can you do about it? ….Go have a good get together with your friends!”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

The cabin door before me opened loudly as he finished talking and I was pushed in at once, before it locked behind me again. The small cabin room was kept alight by a small oil lamp but it was still extremely dim. Beside the cabin wall, there was a simple bed with vague and indistinguishable shadows of people huddled together. I saw someone stand up and a familiar voice resounded within the room, “Desharow. Oh God, you’re still alive!”

“Lafarre!” I blinked for a few seconds before a familiar face appeared within my sight and made me feel excited. My feet stumbled forward, but I was blocked by Eva, who stood up in front of me. Her slender hand grasped my shoulder and gently let out a “Shhh” while pointing to the bed at the same time. 90hwRf

I was stunned immediately at what laid before my eyes.

Davis, who had gone missing for a while, was lying down on the bed. He was curling up like a small and terribly ravaged animal and his breathing wasn’t calm, like he was stuck in a nightmare. Lafarre’s coat was draped over his body but it was unable to cover the bruises and scars that were littered all over his lower body, especially his shoulders and ankle that were covered with quite a few, deep bite and scratch marks. The bedsheets were also smudged with already darkened blood from his lower half of his body. His entire body was wasting away into something unrecognizable. If it weren’t for that face, I wouldn’t have been able to recognize that the person before me was the senior that I got along with everyday.

“What’s wrong with him?” I muttered out stiffly even though I knew I was asking something really idioctic.

It felt like a sponge that was soaked up in water was lodged in my throat making me unable to cry nor wail even if I wanted to. My head kept replaying back to the pirate who previously plotted against me—Henry, and his dreadful encounter back at the merfolk cave. I imagined his face morphing into Davis’s face and this almost drove me insane. They had met with the same fate. 6gyjcU

Oh God no! I crouched down, my heart grieving, wanting to reach out and wanting to reach out and  touch Davis’s face, but I couldn’t with my hands still cuffed up. Eva supported me up, I could see her tears glimmer from the candlelight, her lips trembling as she said,  “I don’t know what to do with his wounds. Desharow, I’m scared! His place down there… I mean… his penis is broken! It needs to be stitched up and be disinfected, but those Nazis locked us up in that place, in time, if not, in just a few days, he would die from an infection! I don’t know which damn pervert did this to him, perhaps it’s those Nazis—”

“Don’t talk anymore! Don’t talk anymore, Eva!” I yelled at her breathlessly, my heart twisting into a ball and my voice trembling, “I will think of a way… I swear, I will think of a way to save him…”

I incoherently recited my sentence, Lafarre patted my back lightly and let out a heavy sigh. Eva, on the other hand, covered her mouth, choking back a sob.

“Be quiet, both of you.” Lafarre drew Eva and I closer to one side, patted us on our shoulders and proceeded to talk in a low voice, “It’s not like we have lost all hope. Before we were captured by those Nazis, I managed to issue out a wireless signal for help from the Navy division. Once they receive the signal, they would rush here as soon as possible. For now, we have to try to survive by ourselves. Desharow, they won’t kill us because we have the thing they want most in our heads. You too, Desharow.”  AxQbtd

“What is it?”

“Have you met Professor Vinogreider before?” Lafarre looked me in the eye, his voice lace with mysteriousness.

“Yes.” My heart thumped, “I suppose you have also spoken to him before?”

“Do you remember the time when he showed you a picture? It was the one with a bunch of unusual long and short black squares.”  kA8Neq

“That’s right,” My nerves jumped. “It was something similar to morse codes. At that time, I was asking him questions regarding communications between merfolks, but he instead strangely showed me that picture and told me to write it down. I didn’t understand what he meant at that time, and had really  thought he went a little crazy. What, did you also see the picture?”

Lafarre looked around warily, before lowering his voice so only me and Eva could hear, he even used coronal consonants, a special way of articulating, at every word and talked at a rapid pace, “That set of morse code was the PIN number to access one Professor Vinogreider’s most important disk. The secret the Nazis wanted to find out the most was stored inside the disk. It would lead them to this island’s most precious and treasured area—the Space Gate. I know that it sounds somewhat absurd. But it’s not a myth at all, that ‘gate’ really does exist. It’s like the Bermuda Triangle, those who enter it would return to a certain time in the past, or perhaps they would enter a whole new reality, a parallel world even, and this was also the secret behind Alantis’s mysterious disappearance. Listen, the mythological Atlantis isn’t at the bottom of the ocean, instead, it’s in another dimensional space, another part of history, it’s where the Merfolk lives.”

He paused for a bit, calmly staring at my flabbergasted expression, saying the words slowly to dispel my disbelief. “How I am very sure of this, was because of Professor Vinogreider’s subordinate, the crew member that had been taken away by a Mermaid, had returned back. Desharow, whether or not you believe it, that crew member was your grandfather.”

I was so shocked that my jaw dropped. “No, no, no. How is that possible?! Professor Vinogreider clearly said that his crew member had disappeared decades ago without any news, and he had been looking for him ever since. He even published a missing person notice in the newspapers, and they were sent to all parts of the world. How could it be my grandfather? He had been with me since I was a child until he met an unfortunate end in a shipwreck back in Iceland…” MuJaGA

The scene at that time of my childhood suddenly flashed before my eyes and once again I saw a dark silhouette within the night fog and a pair of sharp, serene, bright eyes. That was the first time I had ever met Agares, and the scene of him rescuing me was clear as day. At that moment, it seemed like a layer of mist had covered my heart, and some conjectures appeared, as I desperately waited for Lafarre to continue.

“Professor Vinogreider once played a voice recording and in that recording, your grandfather mentioned what happened to him after he entered the time gate. He said that it was a space that was unlike anything he had seen on Earth. However some kind of electrical current made his voice hard to be transmitted across and I was not able to fully understand everything. I only knew that he came back after he made a certain compromise, or to be exact, it was like a business transaction…er, He had promised the r there and that in the future there would be some kind of price to pay. A huge, huge, price.”

“Is… it me?” I swallowed dryly and squeezed those few words out from my trembling lips, my body feeling cold all over.

  1. Did I hear Double Updates..???😍 Yes please!!

I think that the Nazis are trying to change the past with the help of the space gate??

    Definitely surprised about the grandfather.

  2. Happy anniversary! You’ve done so much in just a year, we’ll done!

A double update would be super cool especially with all these cliffs.I really threw my phone when Desharows grandfather came up and a SPACE GATE! WHAT!? I really did not see any of this coming. Thanks for the great chapter.

  5. I wonder if Desharow can use his magic saliva to cure his friend?

Thanks for the great translation ♥️

    • I’m assuming his pecker got cut off. If so no amount of sloppy blowjobs will heal THAT back up. The only thing we can hope for is that davis doesn’t get an infection there, or that he may too start the transformation process (i seem to recall davis being assaulted by the rival merman a few chapters ago) otherwise it is death or a life without a pecker.

  6. thank you for the chapter! now we need contractual marriage tag :> [thank you for the chapter ❤️ ]

  7. Rhine is disgusting and I want him to die.

Also feel super bad for Davis. When that thing happened to that pirate I first thought it was Davis and felt super bad and then relieved after realizing it wasn’t him, but I should have known better.

Also definitely did not see that coming with the grandfather O_O

And a big Yes please for the double update!! 😍

Thank you for your hard work

  8. thank you both for your work. +50 chapters in a year, wow. and yes!! double updates!!!

  9. Whoa things are getting crazy! This story is so surprising 😆 but damn, poor Davis! Did the crew do that? Or Was it he merfolk? Also, awful idea but Desharow does have healing saliva right now 😅 he could help tide Davis over until they can stitch him up…

  10. I wasn’t able to swallow up all of these. I’m in my shock state. I think I have to stop here for now and continue tomorrow. I feel like I’ll have a nightmare coz of this. 😭😭😭 BTWWW 4 DAYS BEFORE THE 4TH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS TRANS NOVEL. I’LL NEVER GET TIRED OF THANKING YOU CHEONSA-SAMA JADA-SAMA AND PIGEON-SAMA🫶.

  12. Arghhh I really hate Rhine, I wish he would be dead soon -___-;

What happened to the poor davis?!

The revelation about his grandpa is quite shocking though.

    Thank you for translating

  13. The last part isn’t really clear to me “He had promised the r there and that in the future there would be some kind of price to pay” Is this a grammatical error?

  14. “As a man” “As a man” Dessie, I’m tired of hearing that broken record. Be happy you have someone who’s crazy about you.

    P.s. I h@te Sakarol.
